In partnership with Sport Wales, we are the lead organisation for sport, physical activity and volunteering activities in colleges in Wales.

The Active Well-being project remains closely linked to Sport Wales priority areas, raising participation, increasing volunteering and workforce and tackling inequalities. Within the project, the target population is FE students in the 16-24 age group studying full-time courses in colleges. Since 2014, the project has engaged with 30,000 young people across Wales.

Over 1,200 FE learners are also supported in competitive college sport each year via the CollegesWales Sport regional competitions and leagues/cups. Around 3,000 learners are enrolled on sports courses in colleges in Wales, which would include regular practical sports and coaching activity as part of their study. There would be a significant overlap with the 1,200 participants engaged in competitive sport from this figure;  this group are fully supported by college resources and staffing in competitive and curriculum FE sport.
